The director of the Mortal Kombat series denies revealing a new part anytime soon.

He said, “soon,” no, but in the future.

The director of the Mortal Kombat series and its godfather, Ed Boone, has extinguished the ambition of the players, as he recently confirmed that the Neather Realm studio will not reveal a new part anytime soon, especially with the leaks of the existence of the twelfth part under development.

Ed Boone is the director of the Mortal Kombat series of fighting and competition games for its Japanese sisters, where he spent more than 20 years developing part after part for it, whether it was main or even subsidiary. The last part of the series is MK11 which was released in 2019 and its support officially ended in mid-2021.

The community of players was completely frustrated by the decision to stop supporting the last part because it first succeeded commercially and deserved support for a longer period and also it is the shortest part in terms of support in the series, but they revived again after rumors and leaks emerged regarding the upcoming part MK12 and its presence under development.

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the series and its release, as the director celebrated through a tweet on Twitter. One of the players asked the director if there was any new announcement soon related to the series on the occasion of this anniversary, and the director’s answer was “soon” no, but he confirmed that there will be a new announcement in the distant future.

It seems that the team will move to work on its other combat titles such as Injustice, and logically we do not expect to release a new part of the Mortal Kombat series, especially since the last part has not completed its third year yet, which is a very short period until a new part is announced.

Would you like to see MK12, Injustice 3, or even a whole new project?
